Nativity Mobile
with The Bath Abbey
The Nativity project was a commission our course was given by the Bath Abbey to make a nativity scene to be put in the bath abby over Christmas season. My groups idea was to make a slow moving mobile with the characters to float around.
We experimenting with lots of different shape and colour to represent each character. This was very important as we wanted to give the characters the right effect so that people would recognise them. Using acrylic plastic as we had a wide range of colours and processes such as laser cutting and oven heating to get the right effects and shape.
For the final design we wanted to capture an abstract nativity scene using distinctive shapes and colours that represent each character. Having the Baby Jesus in the middle and all the other characters floating around him. the slow moving effect works well with the quite atmosphere in the Abbey.
